Job Summary

Overall Purpose:

The job holder shall represent the Bank in the publication of deeds as well as to assist in the management of the Contracts section within the Legal department. The role involves following files presented by notaries “assigned” to the Contracts Representative, assisting where possible in order to ensure that the file is vetted and deed published as early as possible.

Key Responsibilities

The job holder will be responsible for:

Representing the Bank on deeds of loans, overdrafts, waiver, cancellation, reduction, postponement, subrogation, constitution of additional security and such other deeds with third parties so as to appropriately safeguard the Bank’s interests. This includes checking that the deed being published reflects the draft deed vetted by the Bank’s lawyer.
Communicating with the Sanctions and Screening department and other internal departments to resolve matters arising in an efficient and effective manner.
Liaising with notaries and vetting lawyers to ensure correctness of deeds and transactions.
Coordinating with other sections within the Legal department in respect of the pre-deed and post-deed processes.
Managing the Contracts section together with the other Contract Representatives, including cascading KPI’s, monitoring the team and evaluating performance.
Coordinating day to day activities at Contracts section, in order to ensure that work is evenly distributed and that backlogs, including for the publication of contracts, are avoided or kept to a minimum.
Effecting or authorising transactions related to contracts and assisting in any other duties in Contracts section as may be required.
Ensuring that all necessary checks on files submitted for vetting and publication have taken place.

In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.

Required Criteria

Previous proven work experience of four (4) years in a legal environment with direct exposure to the publication of deeds, the pre-deed and post-deed vetting process and an MQF Level 5 Award in Financial Services, Law, Banking, or related area.

Previous proven work experience of five (5) years in a legal environment with direct exposure to the publication of deeds, the pre-deed and post-deed

Previous proven work experience of two (2) years in a legal environment with direct exposure to the publication of deeds, the pre-deed and post-deed vetting process and an MQF Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Financial Services, Law, Banking, or related area.

Applicants are required to satisfy the Bank’s minimum eligibility criteria of four (4) O’Levels at Grade 5/C or higher, including English Language, in addition to any role‑specific requirements outlined above. This requirement shall not apply where applicants are already in possession of an MQF Level 6 Degree or higher.
