Job Description
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality specialty coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and food items in a fast-paced environment.
Beverage Preparation: Craft a wide range of espresso-based and specialty hot/cold beverages (espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, pour-overs, iced teas) to exact recipe, grind, extraction, and milk-texturing standards. Customer Service & Order Taking: Greet customers warmly, explain menu offerings, offer custom recommendations, take accurate orders via the POS system, and handle special dietary requests (e.g., alternative milks, syrups). Equipment Care & Maintenance: Calibrate espresso grinders daily (dialing-in espresso), operate and clean commercial espresso machines, steam wands, grinders, and blenders, reporting any mechanical faults promptly. Cash Handling: Operate registers, handle cash/card payments, process refunds, and perform end-of-shift drawer reconciliations accurately. Station Cleanliness & Hygiene: Sanitize counters, espresso machines, milk pitchers, syrup bottles, and customer seating areas; adhere strictly to food safety and personal hygiene standards. Stock & Food Display Prep: Restock coffee beans, milks, paper products, and retail merchandise; arrange display cases with pastries, sandwiches, and grab-and-go items following FIFO principles.
