Position Overview

A motivated Demi Chef de Partie is sought to support the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes within an assigned kitchen section. The role focuses on developing culinary skills while maintaining consistent food quality, efficient service, and high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will prepare, cook, and present dishes according to established recipes and standards, assist with ingredient preparation and mise-en-place, and ensure consistency in presentation, portioning, and overall quality.

The role includes supporting the Chef de Partie with the daily operation of the assigned section, coordinating with other kitchen areas during service, and assisting with the execution of menu items and implementation of dish updates.

Responsibilities also involve monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages, following correct storage, labelling, and waste procedures, and maintaining cleanliness and food-safety standards. Proper care and use of kitchen equipment will also form part of the role.

The candidate will work closely with the wider kitchen brigade, support colleagues when required, and actively participate in on-the-job training and continuous culinary development.

Requirements

Candidates should have previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar professional kitchen role. Culinary training or certification will be considered an asset.

A basic understanding of food safety, hygiene, and professional kitchen practices is required, together with good organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.

The ideal candidate should be reliable, willing to learn, capable of following instructions accurately, and comfortable working under pressure within a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, together with a professional and disciplined approach to maintaining consistent standards.

Candidates must already be residing in Malta.
