Job Description

Whilst reporting to the Head Chef, the Grill and Sandwich Chef will be responsible for delivering authentic Greek flavours to our guests in Malta. Your role includes active participation in menu innovation and high-standard food preparation while contributing to the high-paced service typical of the Maltese dining scene The ideal candidate should have practical experience working on a grill and in sandwich preparation, with a strong understanding of food quality, hygiene and efficient kitchen operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of grilled meats, vegetables and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.

Prepare and assemble sandwiches, ensuring consistency in portioning, presentation and taste.

Operate and maintain grilling and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Ensure all food is prepared and served according to food safety and hygiene standards.

Maintain clean, organised and hygienic food preparation and cooking areas.

Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure proper stock rotation.

Minimise food waste through effective preparation, portion control and storage.

Assist with food preparation and other kitchen duties as required.

Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Support menu preparation and contribute ideas for improving food quality and preparation processes.

Comply with all company policies and legal requirements relating to food safety, health and safety, fire safety and hygiene.

Maintain a professional and positive attitude during busy service periods.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, according to the operational requirements of the business.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar grill chef, sandwich chef, line cook or fast-food kitchen position.

Previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant, takeaway or similar food-service environment is highly preferred.

Practical experience with grilling and sandwich preparation, baguettes, wraps, paninis and other bread items.

Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety procedures.

Knowledge and Skills Required

A diploma or qualification in Food Preparation/Culinary Arts will be considered an asset.

Food Handling Course is preferred.

Basic First Aid and Basic Fire Safety training will be considered an asset.

Good command of English.

Greek language skills will be considered an asset.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.

Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.

Good organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritise during busy service periods.
