The Role

The Senior Product Owner – Digital Assets & CBDCs will lead RS2's product strategy and delivery roadmap for digital assets and currencies, with an initial focus on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), including the Digital Euro, as well as stablecoins and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT)-based settlement infrastructure.

Operating at the intersection of technology, regulation, and commercial strategy, the role is responsible for translating emerging market developments into actionable product initiatives that strengthen the BankWORKS® platform and RS2's value proposition. Working closely with Engineering, Architecture, Commercial, Compliance, and Executive stakeholders, the incumbent will define product vision, prioritise delivery roadmaps, and ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.

The role also represents RS2 in relevant industry forums, payment scheme working groups, and digital currency initiatives, acting as the internal subject matter expert on digital assets and their impact on the company's products and clients.

Responsibilities

Define and own the product strategy, roadmap, and vision for RS2's Digital Assets portfolio, with an initial focus on CBDCs, Digital Euro, stablecoins, and DLT-enabled settlement capabilities.
Translate regulatory developments, industry trends, and customer requirements into commercially viable product features and strategic initiatives.
Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, regulatory requirements, and commercial objectives.
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Solution Architecture, QA, Commercial, Sales, and Executive Management to deliver high-quality product capabilities aligned with business objectives.
Lead product discovery activities, including market analysis, competitor benchmarking, customer engagement, and business case development.
Drive product decisions based on measurable business outcomes, market opportunities, and strategic priorities.
Monitor developments within the Digital Euro programme, ECB design framework, stablecoin ecosystems, and Distributed Ledger Technology to ensure RS2 remains at the forefront of market innovation.
Represent RS2 in industry forums, payment scheme working groups, regulatory discussions, and relevant digital currency initiatives.
Act as the internal authority on digital currencies, advising stakeholders on product implications, regulatory changes, and market developments.
Ensure product delivery aligns with European regulatory requirements, including PSD2/3, MiCA, and the Instant Payments Regulation.
Support commercial teams by providing product expertise during customer engagements, strategic opportunities, and partner discussions.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define product KPIs and monitor delivery against agreed business outcomes.
Continuously identify opportunities to enhance the BankWORKS® platform through innovation in digital assets and next-generation payment technologies.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Extensive senior-level experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or equivalent role within financial services, payments, or fintech.
Proven track record of defining product strategy, owning product roadmaps, prioritising features under competing business constraints, and delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
Experience working within Agile product development environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams.

Technical Knowledge

Deep expertise in Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), with particular knowledge of the Digital Euro programme and the ECB design framework, including scheme rulebooks, settlement models, and offline/online payment functionality.
Strong understanding of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) architectures and their application within payment and settlement infrastructures.
In-depth knowledge of stablecoin ecosystems, including issuance models, custody, redemption processes, and settlement finality.
Good understanding of payment processing platforms, acquiring, card schemes, or merchant payments is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with European payments regulation, including PSD2, MiCA, and the Instant Payments Regulation, and their impact on digital asset product development.

Languages

Full professional proficiency in English is essential.
German language proficiency is considered a strong advantage.
