Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the Management team, we are seeking an experienced, motivated, and client-focused Insurance Broking Claims Manager to lead and oversee the claims function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that claims are handled efficiently, professionally and fairly, while maintaining high standards of customer service, technical competence and regulatory compliance. The role will involve managing a small claims team and liaising with Branch Managers within our network, strengthening relationships with insurers and clients, and continuously improving claims procedures and performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the end-to-end claims process across commercial and personal insurance lines, ensuring claims are handled promptly and effectively.
Motivate and develop the claims team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance and supporting professional development.
Maintain effective working relationships with insurance companies (local and overseas), loss adjusters, solicitors and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate timely claims settlements.
Review complex and high-value claims, coverage disputes, policy exclusions and liability issues, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
Monitor outstanding claims, settlement timelines, aged claims, claims leakage and service standards, implementing corrective measures where required.
Ensure claims handling procedures comply with applicable Maltese and EU regulatory requirements, internal policies and relevant data protection obligations.
Develop and maintain claims procedures, workflows, service-level standards and management reporting to improve operational efficiency.
Prepare regular reports on claims volumes, outstanding reserves where available, settlement performance, complaints, escalations and team productivity.
Work closely with broking, underwriting support, finance and management teams to improve the overall client experience and operational performance.

Requirements

Preferably, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Sound technical knowledge of insurance policies, claims procedures, coverage interpretation and claims negotiation.
Experience across commercial and personal insurance lines and where previous exposure to multiple classes of insurance will be considered an advantage.
Good working knowledge of relevant Maltese insurance legislation and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Eligibility to work in the EU is a must.
Able to work full-time during office hours, Monday to Friday.
