Carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of the company’s heavy vehicles, forklift, trailers, and other fleet equipment.

Position Overview The role of Heavy Vehicle Mechanic is to carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of the company’s heavy vehicles, forklift, trailers, and other fleet equipment. The position is hands-on and requires ensuring that vehicles are maintained in a safe, reliable, and roadworthy condition in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities

Carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and other vehicle faults and carry out the necessary repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing to minimise breakdowns and ensure the reliability of the fleet.
Inspect vehicles and identify defects or maintenance requirements.
Ensure vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy and safe condition.
Carry out repairs and replacements of mechanical components, including brakes, suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems as required.
Attend to vehicle breakdowns and carry out repairs both within the workshop and, when necessary, at external locations.
Carry out pre-inspection and safety checks on vehicles before they return to service.
Report any major defects, recurring mechanical problems, or additional maintenance requirements to the Head of Maintenance.
Use workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, machinery, and equipment safely and correctly.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the workshop.
Follow all company health and safety procedures and applicable regulations.
Ensure that all work is carried out to a high standard and within the required timeframes.
Assist with the inspection and maintenance of trailers, forklifts, and other company equipment when required.
Assist other members of the maintenance team when required to ensure efficient completion of workshop and vehicle maintenance activities. Experience and Requirements This position requires proven practical experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy trucks and commercial vehicles. The successful candidate should have strong mechanical knowledge, good diagnostic and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The position requires flexibility to respond to operational requirements, including vehicle breakdowns and urgent repairs when necessary.
