Job Summary

Overall Purpose:

The job holder shall provide support to the department, assist the team in the day-to-day processes related to the issuance of capital instruments and debt funding, monitoring shareholder returns and supporting engagement with investment banks and institutional investors. The Senior Analyst shall compile, and handle reports associated with the issuance of capital instruments and other capital-related initiatives. The job holder shall also be involved in the operationalisation duties associated with the share buyback programme and is to act as liaison between Finance and the various internal and external parties involved with the Bank’s capital obligations, financial instruments and investment landscape, thereby contributing to the efficient operation of the department.

Key Responsibilities

The job holder will be responsible for:

Capital Issuance, Funding & Capital Structure Management
Supporting the end-to-end execution of capital issuances and debt funding transactions, including the preparation and coordination of required data, documentation and internal approvals
Maintaining and monitoring comprehensive records of the Bank’s capital and funding instruments, including CET1, AT1, Tier 2, MREL-eligible instruments, eligible deposits and commercial paper
Contributing to the ongoing optimisation of the Bank’s capital structure, supporting analysis of the capital mix with the objective of enhancing efficiency and reducing the cost of capital
Assessing and reporting on the effectiveness of shareholder distribution mechanisms, including bonus issues, DRIPs and scrip dividends
Financial Strategy, Planning & Forecasting
Supporting the development and maintenance of the Bank’s financial and capital forecasting frameworks, including projections of capital ratios, RWAs, funding needs and key performance indicators under both base and stress scenarios
Contributing to the Bank’s budgeting and medium-term financial planning processes, ensuring alignment between capital strategy, balance sheet growth and regulatory requirements
Assisting in the preparation of analytical outputs used to inform senior management decision-making on capital allocation, dividend policy and strategic initiatives
Supporting scenario analysis and sensitivity testing relating to capital adequacy, capital buffers and regulatory requirements
Shareholder Returns, Buy-Backs & Share Schemes
Supporting the design, execution and monitoring of share buy-back programmes, including the development and enhancement of reporting tools and performance analytics
Assisting in the planning, tracking and potential distribution of treasury shares arising from buy-back activities
Supporting the coordination with internal stakeholders, including Finance and People & Culture, in relation to employee share-based remuneration schemes
Contributing to the monitoring of shareholder return metrics, including Return on Equity (ROE) and related performance indicators
Market Analysis & Capital Optimisation Insights
Collecting, analysing and interpreting internal and external data to support the monitoring of capital adequacy, capital efficiency and overall balance sheet optimisation
Conducting peer analysis and benchmarking exercises to support calibration of the Bank’s capital and funding strategy relative to market practices
Supporting the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of analytical tools, including models used for share buy-backs and capital optimisation (e.g. Price Challenger frameworks)
Performing market scanning and contributing to periodic reports on trends in capital markets, funding conditions and competitor positioning
Investor Relations & External Stakeholder Support
Supporting the preparation of high-quality materials for investor engagement, including presentations, roadshow content and briefing packs for meetings with investment banks and institutional investors
Compiling and maintaining accurate and consistent financial and strategic information used in investor communications
Assisting in the coordination and organisation of investor engagement processes, ensuring consistency of messaging and data integrity
Competitor & Industry Analysis
Gathering and maintaining data on competitors’ financial performance, capital strategies and market positioning within the banking sector
Supporting the analysis of competitor activity and market developments to derive insights relevant to the Bank’s capital strategy and investor positioning

Required Criteria

Previous proven work experience of four (4) years in capital management, financial planning, investment banking or related areas within the banking or financial services industry, and an MQF Level 5 Award in Accountancy, Economics, Banking or Investment Services.

Previous proven work experience of five (5) years in capital management, financial planning, investment banking or related areas within the banking or financial services industry.

Previous proven work experience of two (2) years in capital management, financial planning, investment banking or related areas within the banking or financial services industry and an MQF Level 6 Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Economics, Banking or Investment Services.

Candidates with lesser Years of Experience may be considered should they hold a higher, full and related Postgraduate Degree.
