greens is transforming the way food retail works in Malta. We are building a modern, data-driven Commercial function and are looking for experienced Category Managers to lead key product categories across our business.

The Role

As a Category Manager, you will take full ownership of your category, developing and delivering commercial strategies that maximise sales, profitability and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial Growth, the Space Planning, Assortment & Merchandising Manager, local and international suppliers, Store Operations, Marketing and Supply Chain, you will ensure the right products are available at the right price, in the right place, at the right time.

You will use customer insight, market intelligence and commercial data to build winning category strategies that drive profitable growth whilst delivering exceptional value and an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver category strategies aligned to the greens Commercial Strategy.
Manage category sales, gross margin and profitability.
Conduct regular range reviews and identify opportunities for growth, simplification and innovation.
Develop pricing strategies that deliver outstanding customer value whilst protecting profitability and supporting the overall commercial strategy.
Plan and deliver promotional programmes that maximise return on investment.
Build strategic supplier partnerships and negotiate commercial agreements, supplier investment and Joint Business Plans (JBPs).
Introduce new products and manage product lifecycles from launch to exit.
Analyse sales, market and customer data to support commercial decision-making.
Work closely with the Space Planning, Assortment & Merchandising Manager to develop planograms, optimise assortment, maximise space productivity and deliver consistent merchandising standards across all outlets using industry-leading retail space planning and planogram software.
Provide commercial direction to the Space Planning, Assortment & Merchandising Manager to ensure planograms, merchandising principles, assortment and range changes accurately reflect the agreed category strategy.
Monitor competitor activity, pricing, promotions and market trends.
Drive continuous improvement and commercial innovation.
Work collaboratively with Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance to deliver outstanding commercial performance.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with:

Previous experience in Category Management, Buying or Commercial Management.
Strong commercial and analytical skills.
Excellent negotiation and supplier management experience.
A sound understanding of sales, gross margin, profitability and commercial KPIs.
The ability to influence and build relationships across multiple departments.
Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
Experience within an FMCG environment (essential).
Experience using category management, data analysis or space planning tools would be advantageous.
A passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.
