Job Responsibilities and Duties

Provide legal and regulatory advice to clients on AML/CFT, sanctions, and other financial crime compliance requirements;
Draft, review, and update compliance policies, procedures, manuals, and other regulatory documentation;
Assist clients with regulatory examinations, remediation exercises, and interactions with relevant supervisory authorities;
Conduct legal and regulatory research relating to AML/CFT, sanctions, beneficial ownership, and financial crime matters;
Monitor developments in Maltese and EU legislation and regulatory requirements, providing guidance on their practical impact;
Support a varied portfolio of regulated clients, including financial institutions, investment firms, funds, corporate service providers, and compliance functions;
Prepare clear and practical legal advice based on clients' individual regulatory and compliance requirements;
Work closely with senior members of the legal team on regulatory and financial crime matters;
Assist with other legal and regulatory assignments as required.

Experience

Qualified Lawyer or relevant legal qualification;
Strong interest in AML/CFT, sanctions, financial crime, and regulatory compliance;
Candidates at different levels of experience will be considered;
Previous exposure to AML/CFT, sanctions, regulatory compliance, financial services, or interactions with the MFSA and FIAU will be considered an asset;
Previous compliance experience, postgraduate studies, or relevant professional certifications will be considered an asset;
Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills;
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
