Position Overview

An Associate General Counsel is sought to manage legal affairs across commercial, regulatory, corporate, governance, risk, dispute management, external counsel, and legal operations matters. The role reports directly to the CEO and offers the opportunity to develop into a trusted legal advisor and future leader within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will draft and review commercial agreements, advise business teams across Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, and apply sound commercial judgment to day-to-day legal matters with a proportionate approach to risk.

The role includes managing intellectual property licensing, protection, and enforcement, supporting legal obligations across jurisdictions including Ontario, Malta, Curacao, and Anjouan, and working with Regulatory Affairs on licence applications, renewals, amendments, audits, inspections, and ongoing compliance obligations.

Responsibilities also involve leading dispute resolution, managing litigation, arbitration and regulatory enforcement matters, maintaining dispute and settlement records, coordinating external counsel across jurisdictions, owning contract lifecycle management, developing legal templates and standard positions, and ensuring legal and compliance documentation remains current, accurate, and audit-ready.

Requirements

Candidates should have around 5 to 8 years of post-qualification legal experience, with strong candidates at either end of that range also considered where the overall profile is right.

Strong working knowledge of commercial contracts, IP law, corporate law, legal operations, regulatory licensing, and multi-jurisdictional legal environments is important. Background in iGaming, offshore, payments, fintech, multi-jurisdictional licensing, or offshore regulatory frameworks will be considered highly relevant.

The ideal candidate should be resourceful, self-sufficient, commercially minded, organised, discreet, decisive, and comfortable working with ambiguity. A strong ownership mentality, proportionate judgment, problem-solving mindset, and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently are essential.
