We are looking for an Underwriter to join our growing team at Thomas Smith Insurance Agency Ltd. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for delivering excellent service, we would love to hear from you.

What you will do:

Assist Management in all Personal Lines Underwriting and ensure that all policies and protocols are followed.
Ensure that all Personal lines Underwriting decisions are made accurately and in a timely manner.
Reviewing personal lines proposals, conducting risk assessments and making underwriting decisions in line with the Agency's guidelines.
Ensure that all Personal lines enquiries are recorded and chased effectively.
To ensure that any assigned reports, processes and statistics are always up to date and delivered within agreed timeframes.
Collaborate with other departments, such as claims, to ensure that personal lines underwriting aligns with overall business goals.
Stay informed about changes in regulations, industry trends and best practices, propose to management any improvements to processes and procedures to maintain efficiency.
Provide effective, necessary support to clients, staff and intermediaries to ensure that quotes / policies / changes / renewals are authorised in an efficient and timely manner within the same working day, unless the risk is of a complex nature, in such circumstances proper feedback is to be given.
Give excellent customer service to clients and intermediaries and achieve an overall 90% rating of excellent or satisfied from direct clients and intermediaries.
Maintain up-to-date records and documentation for streamlined operations.
Assist with other related activities as needed to support agency objectives.
Communicate effectively and professionally with other staff members, clients and external parties, using appropriate language, tone and etiquette in verbal and written communication.
To follow and comply with all guides and procedures, including rules and legislation that govern insurance, including but not limited to the Conduct of Business Rulebook.
Flag with management pertinent requests, issues or complaints from clients / intermediaries / staff immediately.
Any other task assigned by management.

What we are looking for:

Previous experience in insurance underwriting.
Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance practices.
Excellent communication skills in both English and Maltese.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise tasks, work efficiently under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
A proactive team player with a professional and customer-focused approach.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
An insurance qualification will be considered a strong asset.
