Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Finance Manager role based in Floriana, Malta. The Finance Manager will oversee a team conducting day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, cash flow monitoring, and bank reconciliations. The role includes management of the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and maintaining robust financial controls and policies. The Finance Manager will coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers, ensuring regulatory and tax compliance across relevant jurisdictions. The individual will also support investment reporting, analyze portfolio performance, prepare reporting packs for senior management, oversee short and long term financing, management of receivables, payables and tax, collaborate on public incentives and benefits, quality control in payroll and remuneration programs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

Budgeting function: Coordinate with portfolio managers and manage numerous annual budgets, both for recurrent operations and capital expenditure.

Performance monitoring: Oversee financial performance in relation to budgets of companies both within the group and investment targets. Manage payment procedures, in accordance with policy and budget.

Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections for stakeholders and upper management. Coordinate and oversee the creation of weekly and monthly reports.

Payables and receivables management: Oversee the periodic payables and receivables function, ensuring upkeep of cash balances and communication with all stakeholders and upper management.

Compliance, Risk and KPI Management: Enforce internal controls and ensure strict adherence to both financial and tax legislation in accordance with reporting standards. Manage monthly payroll and maintain performance payments/bonuses system.

Audit and banking management: Deal with the group company and investment target main stakeholder, including banks and auditors, to ensure timely and efficient execution of the required actions. Oversee regulatory compliance.

Funding management: Identify eventual cash gaps and opportunities, source funding requirements and handle relationship with lenders up to funding draw down.

EU and local incentive schemes: Keeping abreast with the latest incentive schemes offered by both statal and EU budgets; handle internal and third party relationship to support group companies and investment target applications.

Financial analysis: collaborate in the analysis and DD function for internal and external companies.

Requirements

Experience: 6-8 years of proven track record in corporate finance, financial planning, or accounting

Qualifications

Exceptional analytical problem-solving, strategic thinking, and the ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including experience with management accounts, consolidations, and IFRS or other relevant reporting frameworks.
Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Experience in fund or investment management, private equity, real estate, or other alternative asset classes is highly beneficial.
Knowledge of regulatory, tax, and compliance requirements relevant to investment structures and cross-border entities.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems; comfort working with data, reconciliations, and financial models.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field or a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent experience. Master's degree is considered a strong positive.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
Ability to work on-site in Floriana, Malta, collaborate effectively within a small, dynamic team, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Prior experience in an international or multi-jurisdictional environment is an advantage.
