Chemist (cleaning Products R&d / Quality)

We’re looking for a hands-on Chemist to support the development, improvement, and quality control of our eco-friendly, pet-friendly cleaning products.

You’ll work closely with operations to ensure products perform consistently, meet compliance requirements, and are scalable for real-world use.

Responsibilities

Develop and improve formulations for cleaning products (general purpose, degreasers, glass, sanitizers, specialty products, etc.)

Run lab testing and performance benchmarking (stability, pH, viscosity, compatibility, efficacy)

Manage quality control checks for incoming raw materials and finished batches

Maintain documentation: batch records, SOPs, COAs, SDS, labels and technical files

Support regulatory and compliance requirements (EU/CLP/REACH alignment as applicable)

Work with suppliers on raw material selection, alternatives, and cost optimization

Support troubleshooting for field issues (e.g., performance feedback from cleaning teams/clients)

Help scale formulations from lab to production with consistent results

Requirements

Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Materials Science (or similar)

Experience in formulation chemistry (detergents/cleaning products preferred)

Strong understanding of lab safety and good documentation practices

Comfortable working independently and owning experiments end-to-end

Strong problem-solving and attention to detail

Fluent English (Maltese is a plus)

Nice to have

Experience with surfactants, solvents, chelators, enzymes, preservatives, fragrances

Experience with SDS authoring and label compliance

Background in ISO or structured QA environments

Experience sourcing EU-compliant raw materials
