Role Description The Head of Tax and Accounting will lead the firm’s tax and accounting function, ensuring high-quality service delivery to a broad range of clients. This full-time, on-site role, based in Birkirkara, includes overseeing tax planning and compliance work, reviewing complex tax and accounting issues, and providing strategic advice to clients on local and international matters. The role involves managing and mentoring team members, coordinating workflow, and setting quality standards for both tax and accounting engagements. The Head of Tax and Accounting will collaborate with partners and other service lines, contribute to business development, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Maltese and international tax and accounting regulations. The position also requires liaising with regulatory authorities, preparing and reviewing technical documentation, and supporting the implementation of best practices and process improvements.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in tax planning and tax compliance, with proven ability to design and oversee effective tax strategies.
In-depth knowledge of indirect taxation and tax law, including Maltese and relevant international regulations.
Broad understanding of tax as a discipline, including its interaction with accounting, audit, and business advisory services.
Professional qualification in accountancy or tax (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or equivalent), and eligibility to practice in Malta.
Significant experience in a senior tax and accounting leadership role within a professional services or corporate environment.
Strong people management skills, including team leadership, coaching, and performance management.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and client relationship skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
Ability to work on-site in Birkirkara and collaborate with local and international teams within the Crowe Global network.
