Overview of Position:

We are seeking a proactive Assistant Mechanic at our logistical base in Birzebbuga to support the maintenance and repair of the Company's fleet, mobile plant, and mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will assist with routine servicing, breakdown response, fault diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and workshop activities. This role plays an important part in ensuring equipment availability and operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Your Challenge:

Support the delivery of preventive and corrective maintenance activities in line with the Company's maintenance programme and CMMS.
Assist with the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of the Company's fleet, mobile plant, lifting equipment, generators, compressors and other mechanical assets.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, inspections, component replacement, adjustments and general servicing.
Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
Undertake mechanical fitting, assembly, dismantling, installation and replacement of parts and components.
Support planned maintenance, breakdown response and emergency repair activities under the guidance of the Technical Manager.
Safely operate and maintain workshop tools, equipment and diagnostic systems.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Company HSSEQ procedures, manufacturer specifications and relevant regulations.
Assist with spare parts inventory management, including stock checks, material handling and reporting replenishment requirements.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work environment.
Collaborate with other mechanics to support operational requirements and maximise equipment availability.

Who are You:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles, heavy vehicles, mobile plant and industrial equipment.
Minimum educational level of MQF Level 2 or equivalent.
Mechanical and basic electrical diagnostic training, certification or demonstrable practical experience.
Good command of written and spoken Maltese and English.
Good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment and mechanical machinery.
Basic computer literacy for reading and recording maintenance information.
A reliable team player with a cooperative, respectful, and professional attitude.
In possession of a clean Driving Licence (Category B).
In possession of a clean criminal record.
Holder of a valid work permit issued by the relevant Maltese authorities.
Accurate, precise, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality workmanship.
